I really got into reading as a preteen and teenager. I think back on those series and how strongly I identified with characters or fell in love with worlds and creatures, it kicked off a life long…Continue

Having been thoroughly disappointed by her previous book, I was reluctant to start Charlaine Harris' Deadlocked. I was pleasantly surprised, although it was easy to tell from the beginning where Charlaine Harris was taking us. The good and bad "guys" are so obvious now. Eric Northman, the sexy vampire, was in our thoughts, just as he was in Sookie's, but we did not have the pleasure of seeing him much. No great love scenes only sad and serious conversations between the two lovers.

Not reading the book from a hard copy, I paid little attention to the end of the book nearing on my ereader. What a terrible surprise to find the book had ended and little had been resolved! A great cliff hanger, Charlaine Harris, but I needed to read more. This book was too short and once again was taking us somewhere without allowing us to enjoy the scenery along the way. If you are ending the series, please let it be in your next book and let it be full of the romance, intrigue and sex that filled your first few books in the series, and not be like last your three that left us wanting and so disappointed.

So many series ... I'm a mystery reader, and am a faithful follower of several. But Phil Rickman's Merrily Watkins series has to be my favorite. She's an Anglican priest who practices "deliverance" -- i.e., exorcism. VERY well-written and fascinating.

Hi, I'm Neisa. I'm new to this group and website. I have to say though that my favorite book series is The Chanters of Termaris by Kate Constable. The Singer of All Songs was the first book in the series to capture my heart and inspire me as middle school student. It was the book in my life that helped me realize that I too not only loved reading but that I wanted to be a writer. The other series in high school that I love but it also helped me in my inspiration was the Chronicles of Narnia series! I've read them all, and now I'm an obsessed fan! Lol. A kid that never grows up! <3

Sasha - regarding Christopher Moore's books -  A Dirty Job is another one that tells a different story (no vampires but demons) but with cameos from his other works. Truly hilarious in a dark way. I used to listen to audio tapes when my children were quite young and I didn't have the energy to sit and read (to myself). The local library had a great selection.

Hi Deborah.  I have heard that Wicked is a fun read and I also plan to read it someday when I get the chance.

Sasha I agree that women should read this trilogy, but those of us who have have suffered some of the abuse that Lisbeth lived through will find parts of the books triggering and extremely painful and will need to skip through those parts.  At the same time, I think the world needs to be aware of the level of violence and brutality that is directed against women in this world.  The horror of it should not be covered up or hidden.

My favourite on going book series is The Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. The stories are much better than the television show, of course, but I found the last book to be disappointing. If you like entertaining as in funny vampire stories I would suggest trying Christopher Moore's Bite Me, Love Sucks and Bloodsucking Fiends. I have Wicked and Son of Wicked on my bookshelf waiting to be read. When I need a half hour break I will skim through one of my daughter's Beatrice Small novels. Not deep but entertaining.

Hello Everyone. I am sorry that I have not been around to discuss the The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo.  I liked the series very much but it was upsetting for me to read and think about.  And I was the one who suggested the series.

I lost my internet connection for a while but I have a new one now.  I plan to be around more this year for discussions.

Hey, Sasha and all,

I have finally landed. My mom had major surgery and was in the hospital for two weeks. She is doing much better now. The world kinda went pear shaped after that. I am now in GA and me and my husband are separated. I'm doing okay but have no idea what I am doing with my life at this point.

In other news_ book related_ I watched the "Girl with the dragon tattoo" and loved it. It was brutal but I think anything less would have been a disservice toe the story and the characters.

I just finished a book called "the observations" about a Victorian era maid in Scotland, very interesting and funny.

I am currently reading "confessions of an ugly stepsister." I have already read "wicked, and Son of a Witch" and really enjoyed them both. I love the twist Maguire takes on this stories. If you haven't read one you should.

Any how, I'm going to try and stop in more often. Thanks for all the love and support it have been needed and appreciated.

Hi - I'm a newbie - my favourite book series is True Blood. Second favourite is Twilight Saga - I read all Vampire Diaries too - though those got worse with each one. I basically stuck it out because I'd fallen for some of the characters. The Larsson books got my brain working after all that fantasy, and were a little over the top on detail at times, but I had to read on until I'd completed the series. As raw and real as the lead charcters were, they showed certain vulnerablitities on rare occasions which made me admire them or like them enought to see how their lives would turn out. Real isn't always black and white, good or bad, i enjoy the gray in novels, because that is truth. Oh what else? Oh that will do for now. Seems I only ever have five minutes to chat! Glad to be here. Shah. X
