Icebreakers are known to:
  • Create a positive group atmosphere
  • Help people to relax
  • Break down social barriers
  • Energize & motivate
  • Help people to "think outside the box"
  • Help people to get to know one another

Tell us about yourself. Who you are, and what you write! Tell us anything you want us to know. :))

So, to help break the ice with introductions, I'll begin:

I'm Candy, and I'm from Brenham, Texas. I write a little of everything, from Picture Books to Adult Non-Fiction. I have lots of irons in many fires. I love reading and writing YA because it can be racy, yet safe and romantic, yet innocent. I am in love with writing, blogging, tending to my roses, teaching yoga, and being a mom. I'm also a huge fan of the Starbucks Cafe Soy Misto. (And one day, I want to have lunch with Janet Evanovich.)

Thanks. Actually I'm using Camp Nano to help keep me motivated to finish that novel. first 5 chapters are the preview. Chapters 6 on need to be written. I have notes made for the second and third novel of the series as well. And another  novel I've revamped 4 times.

Correction. I started writing fanfic June 2007

I'm Jennifer McCoy, an ex-professional track and field heptathlete who just can't give up running. I've been writing ever since I can remember - in fact I think I got into trouble as a kid during school when I was writing a story and not doing homework. I primary write YA fiction, it's what I studied in grad school, but have also dabbled in screenplays. While I'm currently working on getting the novel I wrote for my MA thesis published (it's a very unique format that may or may not work for ebooks and self-publishing), I just published the first of a trilogy on Greek mythology on Amazon and B&N for YA fiction entitled 'Atlantis'. You can read more about it at my website. Right now I'm just self-publishing, though I'm trying to find a publishing house that may be interested in publishing it the good ole fashioned way. While I can't wait to get to book two in that series, I'm quickly trying to finish up a novella for all ages based on a track and field runner who tries to make the 2012 Olympic team for the London games!

I love going to movies and try to write reviews of the ones I see on my blog though right now my time isn't always my own. I wish I could just get paid to watch movies and read books, but alas life doesn't always work like that. While I wish I had more time to just write, my 'full-time' job is currently restoring a 140 year old Victorian house while coaching youth track and field and gymnastics. I'm also looking for Prince Charming, so if anyone has seen him riding around on his steed, please let me know :) I'm tried of going to the movies alone.  Visit me at my website to learn more.

Hi Jennifer, welcome to the board! :)   Your book sounds wonderful ~ I recently finished the Percy Jackson series (I like to keep up with what my nephews are reading).  The novella sounds timely as well - how is that coming along, almost done?  Good luck with it! :D

I love that you're restoring a home ~ do you blog about your progess? (I'll check out your site after I leave here.)

I wish I could help you with Prince Charming but unfortunately I'm in the same boat ~ maybe their horses have stopped by a stream or something? lol!  Oh well, I'm sure they're on their way. ;)

Anne Liu replied to the discussion 'Where to Begin...' in the group Your First Novel
"Welcome to the fun! I think the great thing about being at the beginning of your first draft is that the first draft DOES NOT HAVE TO BE GOOD.  It just has to get written.  Finishing even a crappy first draft is a huge accomplishment, so…"
