Comment by Christina Morley on May 9, 2012 at 1:26pm I have four kids who love books. Three are old enough to read (two are already teenagers). I began writing a novel for my daughter who was twelve at the time. She is almost fourteen now. I feel bad for letting the time get away from me. I pick it up and put it down and then weeks go by. Anyway, I hope to finish it one day. I still have two younger daughters. If you would like to meet my family then pop in at my parenting blog at http://abooksandmore.blogspot.com. I'm really looking forward to learning from you gals at this group. Tina

Comment by Hannah Goodman on April 24, 2012 at 9:26am Hello Everyone and Welcome new members!
I'm sorry to have been off the radar for awhile. MY responsibilities for Sucker Literary Magazine as well as my own work has really taken me away. I wanted to say a hello and remind folks about the submission deadline for Sucker, which is May 1. If you want to submit, indicate that you are a member of our group and I will put you at the top of the pile. : ) At Sucker we are interested in showcasing emerging authors/writers of older YA fiction. Come visit us at @SuckerLitMag on Twitter or http://suckerliterarymagazine.wordpress.com/ Be sure to read all the great advice on the blog as well as the submission guidelines. We featured fellow SheWriter Candy Fite in our previous issue and she also was also a member of our staff. Come read our first issue http://suckerliterarymagazine.wordpress.com/first-issue/ Thanks for your support!
Thanks Ripley! I had heard of Agent Query but am just starting my online research. Have now added that site to my faves and will look into it.
@Suzanne--thanks for the comment and the well wishing:)
@Cheryl--Another great resource if you do go the agent route is Query Tracker or Agent Query. They are basically search engines for agents and a way for you to track your queries and responses. The forums are helpful too as everyone there is submitting and trying to perfect their query letters, pitches and synopsis.
Ripley -- Thanks for the link to Miss Snarks. I am always looking for new sites to poke around in and learn. I will get on there and check out #47. :) Also, thanks for the input on my agent question. It is good to hear that the market is not completely saturated as some would have you think. Good luck with Miss Snark's critique.
Comment by Suzanne Williams on April 12, 2012 at 12:37pm Hi Ripley,
Well done on being featured.
I've added a comment for you.
Let us know how you get on and Good Luck :-)
The first 250 words of my YA novel have been featured on Miss Snark's First Victim Secret Agent Contest. My entry is #47 and I'd love to see more comments and feedback on it. I'm thrilled that a real agent is finally going to read and critique the beginning of my novel.
If you aren't aware, Miss Snarks is a fantastic resource for writers working on the querying and agenting aspect of writing. She runs a lot of contests and her blog is well-known for lurking agents and writers getting book deals based on agents seeing their work there.
@Cheryl. I've been shopping my YA to agents the last month or so and most of them say specifically they are looking for good MG. I'd say it couldn't hurt to shop it out for a bit and see what kind of response you get. I find that the process itself really hones my writing a summarizing skills.
