Our simple philosophy?
Writing begins with a writer.
With this in mind, our teachers take the extra time to learn
about our students' goals as writers. We take into account that
every writer has different aesthetics and reasons for wanting to
pursue creative writing, and we honor this every step of the way.
We feel confident in our teaching and writing talents; but it's
also true that if we feel there is a better learning venue for you,
we'll tell you that up front. We'll even recommend a place that
might be helpful, if we know of one. We'll never waste your time.
She Writes teachers offer honesty and compassion, and they always
challenge each writer to raise the bar just a little
higher--because that's what learning and discovery are all
about.
Do I have to be a techie and know all sorts of computer stuff
to take a class?
The classes are designed with assignments week by week. All you
have to do is push a button for each weeks' assignments. The
assignments are clearly written and easy to follow through on. Some
will ask you to push a button that takes you to another web page or
a video or maybe even a slideshow. These, too, are done with the
click of a mouse--but if you need help at any point, your She
Writes teacher will be right there. No worries. Learning the
internet is part of being a writer these days, so it's all
pertinent knowledge--and it's fun and incredibly easy on She
Writes.
Are She Writes meetings and critiques in real time or do I have
to sit around and wait for emails and stuff?
Real time. We meet in closed chat rooms to discuss work that
your teacher and all your She Writes colleagues will have read. The
chat rooms are exciting and the exchanges are dynamic. While some
writers might be shy in a classroom, all writers like to write, and
a chat room is a good place to do that--a real conversation in real
time.
Registration, Payment, and Refund Policies
Registration for a class opens 2 weeks before that class begins. To
create a more intense and intimate student exchange, registration
is limited, and classes often fill within the first week of
opening. If you register and pay for a class, but need to cancel,
we will refund 50% of the course cost up until two weeks before the
course start date. No refunds or exchanges are given for
cancellations received any later than two weeks before the class
start date. Once a class starts, there are no refunds or
exchanges. |
