Description of Services

Research Assistance: Gala offers assistance at all stages of the writing process, from organizing information in the beginning stages of a novel to fact-checking a finished piece. An experienced researcher, Gala is efficient and meticulous.

Translation: Gala has four years experience translating plays, letters, websites, and other documents from Spanish into English. She has translated five plays for award-winning Venezuelan playwright Lupe Gehrenbeck, all of which have been performed in English-speaking countries.

About Gala Delmont Benatar

Gala, one of She Writes' formidable interns, graduated in 2008 with honors from Eugene Lang College, the New School for Liberal Arts, with a B.A. in Religion and Cultural Studies, and a minor in Gender and Race Studies. Born in Venezuela and raised in NYC, Gala is multicultural and fully bilingual. Since graduation, Gala has worked extensively assisting writers as a Spanish-to-English translator, research assistant, transcriber, fact checker, and personal assistant.

Research Assistance: Kate offers research assistance and fact checking for every kind of writing, at any length. Whether unearthing hard-to-find information or providing a fresh pair of eyes on a draft, Kate’s approach is organized and thoughtful.

About Kate Hanselman

Kate, Managing Editor of the She Writes Blog and She Writes’ Community Manager, graduated in 2010 with honors from Eugene Lang College, The New School for Liberal Arts. There, she served as Editor in Chief of The New School Free Press, the university's biweekly, student-run newspaper, where she had previously held the positions of Copy Chief, Sports Editor, Reporter, and Photographer. In addition to freelance editing and copy editing, she designs and edits The Banshee, a 16-page periodical for the EMS community, and her senior work, a series of profiles on horse racing and race trackers, continues to develop. Having researched and written about everything from crossword tournaments to war medics, Kate exercises her curiosity and experience with every new project that comes her way. Kate lives in Brooklyn, is a certified EMT, enjoys baking, fencing, and reading, and is eager to take on all new projects, big or small.
