Each month, She Writes hosts a She Writers Launch Party via Twitter.

What is a Twitter launch party? It’s a chance to get together via a Twitter Chat to support and celebrate all of the members of our community who have published that month. Like those large families that meet each month to celebrate all family members with birthdays that fall in that month, this is an online version to celebrate the birth (so to speak!) of our members’ books.

During the party, you’ll have a chance to:

o meet the authors and learn a little about their newly published book

o ask questions of the people who have published books

o share your pithy party humor

o join us in a virtual toast to this month’s people who published

o get more familiar with one way to use Twitter – it’s not as scary as it sounds!

All are welcome, not just She Writes members, so invite anyone you think would enjoy the affair!

How to Join the She Writers Launch Party:

• You need a Twitter account to participate. You can sign up at www.twitter.com if you don’t yet have an account.

• If you have participated in Twitter Chats or Twitter Parties previously, just use the hashtag #SWLP and whatever method you normally use for Twitter chat.

• If you are new to Twitter Chat or Twitter Parties, we think the following method is the easiest way to participate:

a. Sign up with www.tweetchat.com. It’s just a few clicks to link your Twitter account to TweetChat. Allow at least 15 minutes in advance of the Launch Party for sign up, so you won’t miss any of the festivities!

b. When you want to join the party at 9 p.m. ET on August 24, sign into www.tweetchat.com, and enter hashtag SWLP (Look for the big box at the top of the screen with a # sign beside it.) This will direct you to a TweetChat room where you’ll be connected with everyone who is participating. And you won’t be distracted by any tweets coming in about any other topic.

c. When you want to leave the She Writers Launch Party chat, just close the www.tweetchat.com page.

When there are lots of us participating, authors may not be able to respond to everyone’s comments and questions during the live event. But we will post a transcript of the whole event, and authors may be able to respond to any unanswered questions later in a group at She Writes called, for instance, August Book Release Group.

We invite everyone to go with the flow! If we happily have lots of party goers, the Twitter stream could get a little chaotic. No matter how it goes, we’ll be asking for your feedback on how to make future She Writes Twitter events even more productive and fun! Technology is not perfect, so if you have any difficulties before or during the Party tweet our host, Kathy Jordan, at @KathyJchat. You can contact Kathy with any questions ahead of time by messaging her here through She Writes. "See" you at the party!
