A few suggestions on flash nature writing market:Adventum (www.adventrummagazine.com) - this is a new magazine. Their first issue will be online in July, and it will include a flash nature essay I wrote about kayaking amid Killer Whales. Lablit: the culture of science in fact & fiction (www.lablit.com/) - - they’ve published personal essays from field biologists, so science must include nature for them. Some…See More

I've been writing and publishing since the early 1990s. My main focus is creative non-fiction (nature writing, memoir, personal essays), but I also write fiction and flash non-fiction (for lack of a better term). I was formerly self-employed as a grant writer and may have to return to that at some point. For now, I am a full-time writer and mother.
Books I've written, anthologies I've contributed to, and any scripts or plays I've authored:
My essays have been published in magazines such as Pilgrimage, The Fourth River, Tikkun, and Under the Sun, as well as anthologies such as An Intricate Weave: Women Write on Girls and Girlhood, the American Nature Writing series (1996, 1997, and 2000 editions) and Just Like a Girl! “Salvage” (published in EarthLight, winter 2001) was selected for “Other Notable Science and Nature Writing of 2001” in the Best American Science and Nature Writing 2002, edited by Natalie Angier (guest editor) and Tim Folger (series editor). I received a 1996 Seattle Arts Commission literary award, a 2001 Artist Trust Literature Fellowship (Washington State), and am nearing completion of my manuscript, Turning Homeward: Restoring Nature in the Urban Wild.
Media outlets that I currently write for:
I do not write for commercial news outlets, but I do publish in a wide range of print and online literary journals or other venues.
My writing is:
Fiction, Nonfiction, Memoir
Outlets where I review books, TV, or film:
Not yet, but I would love to start.
Services I offer to other writers:
I am always open to considering critique exchanges or other writing-related barters.
I'm part of these writers' groups or salons:
Internet Writing Workshop, Seattle WriterGrrrls
My professional associations:
None at this time, but I will soon be re-joining Northwest Science Writers Association (NSWA) and others.
I found out about She Writes from:
Sorry, I don't remember how I first learned of SheWrites. Possibly from the Seattle Writergrrls Listserv

"I must admit, I've been off my latest draft for a month and a half and am already starting to feel the urge to go back. I *think* I'm close being able to have some perspective but it would certainly be interesting to see how I felt…"
"Welcome to the fun!
I think the great thing about being at the beginning of your first draft is that the first draft DOES NOT HAVE TO BE GOOD. It just has to get written. Finishing even a crappy first draft is a huge accomplishment, so…"
