Quotes, Memoirs, and Books on Writing I've Read to Avoid...Doing It

Working on my memoir, I've turned to many, many (many many, too many) books with tips on how to get started, organized, and inspired.  I also read a lot of what other authors say about the process and will share quotes here, as well.  I'll begin with my favorite quote, well, one of them."Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love questions themselves like locked rooms or books written in very foreign tongues.  Do not now seek the answers which cannot be given you…See More

Gosh, I can't remember (brain cells start to fizzle in the midst of a book tour). I want to say your blog, but I can't be certain. Great words, though, and made me want to read more, ... the music was fab, too.

hi Amy! I saw that you reviewed Jessica Stern's new book? I agree; it can be immensely triggering. I read it in less than 2 days because it was one of those things where I couldn't stop reading, even though I shouldn't have been reading it at all, probably. Excellent book and much needed to help illustrate the effects of trauma/PTSD but very intense....what were your thoughts on it?

Great to have you as a friend here on SheWrites. And hope we continue to connect here and elsewhere - I love Jack Kerouac and how he told it like it was, traveling the country with Alan Ginsberg, and the BEAT - great time with outstanding writers.

Hey Amy,

I just finished reading your blog about PTSD and found it to be far beyond powerful...I can relate Amy...extremely informative and beautifully written yet edgy. I really enjoyed your writing style.

All my best,

I would like to join the music/flash fiction group--gret idea for things to talk about! I write poetry, and find I almost never listen to music while writing/rewriting, but I often incorporate song lyrics in as epigraphs or even first lines. Hope to write songs again someday soon! Thanx for starting the group & putting it out. Naomi Thiers, SheWrites
