- I am a memoirist and writing teacher in Iowa, where I live with my mystery-writing husband, Bob, and our three-footed cat, Ruby.

- Most publications are mostly academic and focused on contemporary American literature and film: articles on Kathy Acker, Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, Mary Harron's American Psycho. I've published a couple of nonfiction essays: "Civil Defense," in Midwestern Miscellany, and "Close to the Bones," in the Bellevue Literary Review. I've contributed entries to an encyclopedia on sex and gender (Houghton-Mifflin).
