Profile Information

Who I am:
For 25 years, I worked in education and social services. I heard many interesting stories and had many interesting experiences. My challenge was to document what people said or did in unbiased ways. It didnt matter if they were a client, staff member or employee, all unbiased, just the facts.

I coauthored a book that sold internationally and was translated into many languages. It was a self directed career planning book for people who had their careers interrupted by disabling mental illnesses. My specialty was professionals, doctors, lawyers etc. My best pay was knowing people learned from what I wrote. People who will never know me nor I them will be helped. cool.

Now I am unable to work due to disability. I have so many wonderful, moving and intense experiences to tell. I am facing the challenge though of going from writing factually, unbiased into the creative which I think is where I belong. Based on the challenge of being factual, unbiased and the energy that took, I think "the small child in the red dress sobbing, wiping her tears on her sleeve, crouched in the corner while her Mother completed the forms", is more fitting.
It will be a challenge but I think I shall enjoy it greatly.

Andrea,

With apologies for the late greetings (Random House has me travelling a lot for my new novel),welcome to the novelist group. If you haven't already done so, you might introduce yourself by telling us what you’re working on in the “Show Me Your Novel and I’ll Show You Mine” discussion. And we do a live chat every Wednesday; hope you can join us for that!
