Secrets of the Sari Chest
Somewhere in the atmosphere between Hyderabad, India, and Atlanta, Georgia, the newspaper securing Shiva’s four arms unravels, exposing him to the residue of shaving cream, the sticky outside of children’s…
Hi everyone,
A few months ago, I started writing my first novel. (I usually write essays.) It's been a fun, frustrating, exciting and tedious journey. I'm chronicling my journey on my blog (blog post titles are named by the number page…
Hi everyone,
A few months ago, I got over my fear of writing fiction and started my first novel. I've been blogging about it as I go-- each blog post title is the number of page I'm on! So far I'm up to page 76. I'm hoping…
Hi Everyone,
I've spent the past few months taking the plunge and writing my first novel. I'm chronicling my progress on my blog. Posts are titled by the number page I'm on. I'm up to page 76 (woo hoo). It's been fun so far…
Happy New Year, Essay-Writers!
I have a new essay up at r.k.vr.y. about my miscarriages, and my relationship with my mother. I'd love some feedback if any of you have a chance to read it!
Hi Ladies,
I have an essay up at r.kv.r.y. today about miscarriage, and my relationship with my mother. I'd love some feedback from anyone who has a chance to read it!

Hi Meg,
I write an essay with a lesson in mind. No a lesson for others, but a lesson for myself. Oftentimes, the lesson changes. I think I learned one thing from an experience, but really I've learned something else entirely. That's the…

Hi Anjali. I just visited your blog and tried to leave the comment below but for some reason it did not post. So, here it is (although I will try again).
I love this! I am also not a crying parent. My daughter went to college and at the convocation there was a ceremony followed by the new students walking through an arch, leaving their parents. Upperclassmen stood with boxes of tissues for crying parents. I felt like the dad in the old Staples commercial who shops through the aisles kicking up his heels as he shops with his (forlorn) kids for school supplies. Enjoy - it passes all too quickly.
I write a blog about school related topics. I hope you check it out and leave some comments.
All the best,
Meryl www.departingthetext.blogspot.com
Thanks for adding me as a friend and joining my new group for Indian writers! I'm excited to hook up with other Indian/South Asian writers, so please pass my info along to your friends!
Thanks for the friend add. I'm glad to have you. Sounds like you're very busy with 3 little girls! I have 2 girls ages 3 and 20 mo. and my hands are full. Hats off to you.
My father's death opened the closet of horrible memories and I began to write "ugly" as I called it then. I began to reach for some honesty in my writing as I went through three years of frequent flashbacks--not of HIM, but of another…
