I have been sorting through a lot of the clutter that has gathered on my computer. I think I have more articles and emails and groups related to writing than actual written projects ~ I need to get to the process of writing (well FINISHING!) and spend less time on these areas. That said: I have stumbled across a lot of different "fun" things while cleaning things out and figured I would add a few (is that defeating the purpose? Maybe but I'm doing it anyway. lol!)
A friend…

I am a little "giddy" at the moment. A while ago a friend of mine had mentioned that she had put it out there that she would receive a "fairy pen" if she was to be a writer; she said the very next morning she got one in the mail! Apparently a friend had made her one as a surprise and mailed a week or so earlier. Inspired, I thought: ok lets see, I better make it good, something that I wouldn't normally get so I used a quill pen as my "sign". Am I on the right path/what am I supposed to…

It is sad that just coming up with a title had me stumped but it also proved that I am where I need to be ~ where I have longed to be for a while now: with a group of supportive women. I had forgotten what a difference it makes ...and hadn't realized how long it had been since I had been in this type of environment. The last time had me smack-dab in a critique group ~ something I…

Valerie M Honey. said… Hi Amber. No I didn't sign up for the sites. I have found some old work today. I will be re -doing it for the computer. It was started in 1986.Good luck with it all tho' Dragons. Your nephews win.
I really need to complete my 90 day. I am finding old pieces too, and getting them re-done into computer format. Have you thought of a title for the story of Dragons?
take care.x
Valerie M Honey. said… Hey there Autumn.
The book starts off with some good suggestions for tools. she suggests several outlining techniques & scene writing basics. good for me as I can plan my moves step by step. so now I can compartmentalize Scene by Scene by Scene. The day 1 assignment was to brainstorm as many early memories in your own life etc.Been there done that. That exercise will be filed somewhere. Come day for4 it was Plot Happens. Well I have a plot and an outline and an abbreviated outline sitting there. So I began to use my own material in the assignments.I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I can use them, and at the same time polish up my scenes. It s like working on a second draft.
I'm glad to be revisiting my work.
Very much like your commitment to JuneWri mo. A great concept. I think I will check it out. I see you write in the YA genre. I thought about putting Circle Of Two in that genre as well for awhile. Alexandra has a familiar who is a Unicorn. But as the story progresses it does become a bit more mature. I have started another novel too.I think my unicorn will fit better into the Fantasy World of Brycan's (Brick Cans) Wood.
Take care. Cuppa tea time. Almost 8 pm in Saskatoon. x

Good plan, one thing at a time re: Nanowritemo. I've had this book sitting in my small library for sometime. For me it got me on the train out of Procrastination Station. That has been most welcome. I have reworked Sarah Domets format to suit my needs and as the days have progressed I am surprised at how much material I have. With the set assignments for organizing work and breaking down scenes, has simplified things.
Yep I am in Saskatchewan now.We settled here when we came to Canada in 1967. We moved to Ontario in 1984 and stayed there for 26 years We moved back to Sask 2 years ago. What part of the country do you live in?
Thanks for adding me as a friend. Edith and I are in touch every day. That' s great too.
Take care and I will keep a lookout for you. I will be posting the 90 day on my blog soon.
Take care.
Valerie M Honey. said… Started a comment to you. Yes the book I started to use after purchasing it from the Writers Digest Shop. (on line) is called 90 days to your novel, by Sarah Domet. As Edith says it can be found. She is using the UK Book Depository to get her copy. Or Amazon. The Writers Digest Magazine is a great mag for info on a lot of things, that you can get online too. I have to ask Edith where she lives,. I live in Canada, Where is your corner of the world Autumn?
I would love it if you joined Edith and myself for the 90 day. I reached day 8 yesterday. In truth I won't be finishing my novel in 90. But looking ahead in the book I will be well on and past the procrastination stage. Feels good.
Do keep in touch I will be delighted.
