I'm so glad to find this article. I heard about Persimmon Tree a couple of years ago, and I live in the East Bay, over the hill from Mills. I love your solid advice, and I think I should check out your submissions guidelines. Thanks for sharing this…

Right now you can get almost anything--current, historical, fiction, non-fiction, and even my book, though why you'd want that one as an e-book is beyond me. Wouldn't it be great to have a crystal ball that would tell us how e-books are changing and…

This is very interesting, and not what I would have expected, though I'm glad to see sales up in university and higher education books. That's a healthy sign for our intellectual progress. Lynn www.writeradvice.com Author of You Want Me to Do WHAT?…

I took you at your word and went out for a while this afternoon. The day itself was poetry. The sky, the clouds, and the grasses were gorgeous. Thanks for the suggestion.

2009

In 2009 I learned, day after day, that spending hours publicizing left no time to think, process and produce well-developed writing. Yet I did it anyway at times.

I didn't do everything I wanted. Far from it. Balance is an ongoing saga. Being busy sure beats the alternative.

Why Journal?

How can a journal help an experienced writer? Journaling allows writers to vent, process, explore, discover, and rejoice. It offers a safe place to explore, express oneself, dig deeper, analyze, and discover truths.

Over the past ten years my journals have been
A record
A place to spew
A place to delve and see where the pen takes me
A place to hone my thoughts
A place to sharpen my craft, and figure out what I really mean to say
A place to make discoveries
A place to find story ideas

Hello! I write nonfiction narrative, of the Christian Living variety. Much of it is like that's on my blog, but my current WIP/manuscript is unique and doesn't duplicate what's on my blog. How about you?

I have always written non-fiction but right now I am doing Chris Baty's Novel in 30 days project (NaNovWriMo) so I am writing my first novel during July. I am just testing out my ability to play with words in fiction. I hope I try another novel after this month but no matter what, I know I will appreciate fiction as a reader in more ways after this experience.

I remember, Lynn! And thanks for recommending The Wednesday Sisters to your group! I'll look forward to chatting with you here. We're planning a f2f for SF Bay area shewriters, so watch thread for details.

Lynn, thank you so much for your thoughtful comment on my post about labeling "emerging" and "established" writers. (We are all emerging in some way I think!) Glad you are here. Warm best,

I just finished writing"Bristol Stomp" the true story of the murder of my younger brother..coming out late summer/early fall..I am currently writing on the impact of my stepson's suicide on his 15 year old brother, who found him and I am working on a book for pre-teens and teens (sort of an instruction manual) So I guess you could say I write creative non-fiction. I was attracted to your profile because when I am not writing I work as a caregiver..

Lynn I I've been a caregiver since I was six years old, and my younger sister was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. My youngest brother, who is now 48, also has CF. Though he lives independently, my parents and I are still very much involved in his care. My book, "Sixtyfive Roses: A Sister's Memoir," chronicles my family's journey through the terrain of chronic/terminal illness; it's a story of faith and immense love. I have your book, which I bought to inspire me as I teach memoir workshops, and also speak to caregivers. If you are ever in the NYC area, let me know - perhaps we can set up a joint workshop. In any case, I think we have a lot to share...
