I took you at your word and went out for a while this afternoon. The day itself was poetry. The sky, the clouds, and the grasses were gorgeous. Thanks for the suggestion.

2009

In 2009 I learned, day after day, that spending hours publicizing left no time to think, process and produce well-developed writing. Yet I did it anyway at times.

I didn't do everything I wanted. Far from it. Balance is an ongoing saga. Being busy sure beats the alternative.

Why Journal?

Posted on November 7, 2009 at 5:15pm 0 Comments

How can a journal help an experienced writer? Journaling allows writers to vent, process, explore, discover, and rejoice. It offers a safe place to explore, express oneself, dig deeper, analyze, and discover truths.

Over the past ten years my journals have been

A record

A place to spew

A place to delve and see where the pen takes me

A place to hone my thoughts

A place to sharpen my craft, and figure out what I really mean to say

A place to make… Continue

So are you really just now joining the novelist group, Lynn? I would have sworn you were among us! Well, welcome; if you haven’t done so already, you might introduce yourself by telling us what you’re working on in the “Show Me Your Novel and I’ll Show You Mine” discussion.

Live chat at 1 EST on the first Wednesdays of each month, with instructions on how to participate in the "Our Water Cooler" box near the top of the group page. And we save the wall for discussion, but welcome links to helpful blog posts on the “Links to Helpful Blog Posts for Writers” discussion thread and to published books in the “Our Published Novels” one.

Glad to have you in the group!

Well that is the big money question right now. Currently my published work is freelance, writing for magazines. I also contribute regularly here and starting next month will be a monthly contributor to the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writer Association's blog, Chiseled Rock. I also write two blogs-- one geared towards writers (www.athoughtgrows.blogspot.com) and one I just started for creative non-fiction piece (www.julieluek.blogspot.com).  I prefer non-fiction but have written a few non-published short-stories.

Hi -- You left a note on the blog Making The Leap and I checked out your website and your book and actually passed it along to a friend who is both a writer and over-stressed caregiver. Thanks for sharing your insights so generously.  Julie Luek

Hi, Lynn--I was a judge for your Writer Advice flash prose contest in 2012 and a 4th place winner of the contest in 2011. (And Rachel Sarah is my writing partner).

Nice to see you here at She Writes.
