I am an architect living in Annapolis, Maryland. Originally from St. Louis, I grew up drawing animals and houses, so it was only logical I would become an architect, or a veterinarian like my father wanted. So of course, I chose Art!
I spent two years at Indiana University studying Art and French before coming to the realization that Architecture was my future. I transferred to the University of Kansas and entered architecture school knowing absolutely nothing about designing a building. In between long nights in the studio, I raced sailboats - avoiding tornadoes on windswept Kansas lakes and dreaming of the open ocean. After earning a Bachelor of Architecture, I fulfilled my adventure-lust and ran off to sea. I spent many years calling a sailboat home.
Eventually, I became waterlogged and returned to land. I got a real job, a husband, and a dog. In between all that I earned my MBA from the College of William & Mary. I now share a home overlooking the Chesapeake Bay with my husband, Rick, and a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Tommy.
My days are spent writing, designing residences, or painting pet portraits. In fact, my love of animals led me to develop a custom doghouse company, Artful Dogs – Architecture for Man’s Best Friend.
