Beginning a Life at 50

Beth,
You're not the only one who's been overwhelmed by all that's going on at the SW platform. I'm sure it happens to most of us.
One way to go about navigating this active community is by limiting your scope in the beginning, by just looking at the profile pages of your SW friends for instance. Checking out the groups they have signed up with introduces you to that department.

Since you're a blogger I do recommend you join Bloggers Let's Make it Work. You'll have a chance to introduce yourself and your writing within the intro "discussion" (for lack of better wording).

When you are posting something on your "outside" blog you can announce that within the Bloggers Group in the "what did you blog today" discussion, with a short paragraph, or just by posting the URL, but key words do invite more visitors.
You may also decide to publish the same (outside) post on your own blog at SW. Having your blog show at SW draws more readers from within of course.

Beth, Thanks to the "Let's make it work Bloggers" group I happened upon Katleen Gage's post on speaking out when someone needs to hear something.
Remember the subtle self promotion thingy, whatchamacallit comment with ties attached or something? Goodnight!

Beth I wanted to thank you for reinforcing the notion that I needed to claim the garden blog I worked on for five years. Beside the "history of the blog" page I created an extra one in the sidebar for my own links.
Since the writing is in Dutch the writing won't tell you much, but if you like gardening you'll probably enjoy at least the Picasa album with pictures that were posted on the blog over the years.
