Who am I
I am originally from a small town in Montana - I grew up in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains only a few hours south of the U.S./Alberta border. My university degree is in sustainable food and agriculture, accompanied by extensive training in the arts and natural history. I have blended these elements through years of managing and working for cultural, educational and sustainable living nonprofit organizations. Today, my work and volunteer projects emphasize effective communication for individual and nonprofit projects.
I currently coordinate programs at an English-language literacy resource center, and work as a writer and photographer for the Quebec Chronicle Telegraph.
I also founded, and am the lead writer for a lifestyle blog with an emphasis on food and ecology - fruit.root.leaf. I read nonfiction about food, science and history voraciously, and thoroughly enjoy thrift store shopping. I also illustrate books and science education materials, edit food and science articles for popular and peer-reviewed publications, and photograph the minutia and grandeur of the world around us. My artwork, photography, and writing have been published and exhibited in various venues in the United States. When I am not working, you can likely find me in my garden, deep in a cookbook, or out exploring the local woods and wildlands with either sketchbook or camera in hand.
