- I'm a writer and assoc. professor of English at the University of Texas at El Paso. I'm currently writing a book about military history, and I have a blog about the book, http://thepalestineexpedition.com. In 2008-09 I was a Fulbright Scholar in Jordan where I learned about the subject of my book, America's 1848 naval expedition to explore the Dead Sea.
