Large Family

THE HELL JOYS OF HAVING A LARGE FAMILYPerhaps I should have been born in the late 1940’s because by the time the 60’s rolled around it was commonplace for couples to have four, five, or six children without anyone raising an eyebrow. Now a days of course it causes others to question your sanity, question your fidelity ( were they really conceived between you and your husband?) or to ask you the most rudest questions such as the following:1: Do you know what birth control is?2: Are any children…See More

THE NAME GAME

The moment a woman knows she is pregnant the name game starts. The name game in our house has always been left up to my husband. If I have to suffer 9 months of indigestion, reflux, weight gain, varicose veins, mood swings and a baby kicking my insides like some tae kwon do champion then that is the least he can do. However something that should be so simple often becomes this obsessive issue that goes on for almost the entire pregnancy. He insists on ensuring that each child has a proper…See More

Medication and the ADHD child

Posted on July 30, 2010 at 8:23am 0 Comments

For most people, a quick glance through my half open front door is enough to send them running down the street screaming. Six children, fifty five arguments, jumping, yelling, hair pulling and a soccer ball or two whizzing past your face.

People always ask me “How do you do it?” My response is “A glass of wildberry, duct tape, and drugs.” I may be joking about the duct tape, but when it comes to the drugs that are prescribed for Joshua they have made a huge difference in his daily… Continue

Hi Chantel. I just visited your blog and left a message but did not see it so I am writing one here too, just in case. Your blog, your having 6 +1 kids and your writing are all really impressive. I just started blogging and have a parenting blog. I would love some comments and if you think we might cross list or guest write, that would be great.
So let me know what you think about the blog (I look forward to comments) and congratulations on lucky number seven.
All the best - Meryl
