Hi, I'm excited to join! Would like to connect with other writers--I am from New Orleans and a retired English teacher who has been writing a novel. I've been writing for years, seriously. Love humorous writing and vivid poetic description. I love the South, the Saints, and I'm on a quest to find sanity in the craziness of becoming a published author. Cheryl Rogers

I'm writing a memoir too. That's why I started my blog, because I'm still messing about with story line, voice and focus. If you haven't already, you may want to check out Memoir Writers. I've also found a lot of great information and fellow memorists on Twitter, but there's another jiggling can of worms.
Your story sounds very intriguing. New Orleans is a place I've always wanted to visit. I wonder, are you part of any local writing groups?

You might find this interesting regarding the blog question. As for me, I've been blogging for about 1 1/2 years and have found a groove, small though it may be. I love it, have a small group of regular readers and don't wipe myself out with promoting. I feel like I'm still in the baby stages of my project, but blogging is helping my find my voice and story, as well as showing me who my readers are. Of course, Twitter, Facebook and She Writes also have a lot to do with it. :)

Thanks for the friend addition and welcome to Mother Writer! I'm sorry you didn't get your welcome to the group right away. We're all doing the hokey pokey balancing act around here. If there is anything you need please feel free to drop a line. I hope you find She Writes to be a welcoming resource for your writing.
All my best,
Victoria

Meg Waite Clayton said… Cheryl, we all feel that way sometimes - believe me. Do join the novelist group. Among other things, the Wednesday real time chats make us all feel a little more connected. You can get to it though the link in my earlier comment. Then just click on join and I'll open the door.
Also, take a look at 1st Books: Stories of How Writers Get Started. You'll see post by all sorts of award winners and bestsellers, among others, who've struggled just as you are now.

I've already finished one manuscript but it didn't attract any attention so I've moved onto another - paranormal romance. I typically stick with epic fantasy and paranormal romance. that's just my cup of tea. :)
Good luck with your current project. Hope you have a great deal sucess.
