In the Back Yard, Surrounded by her Laundry

the denim shirt hangs to her knees,

she belts it or wears it open over

a pink dress, the hem scalloped,

the ric-rac abundant and torn --

he stood too close, always, sucking

the oxygen away from her face

it's too early yet for gloves

her woman's hands in water,

sometimes she's washing

something, sometimes

she's washing something off

Shattered Fetlock

My uncle tells me not to

touch the tiny blue eggs

nested in the oleander bush

outside his front door.

His doorbell sounds

Hi Christine,

I am a fellow children's book author and am new to the site. I wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I look forward to getting to know the members of the board. I am also a prosecutor of child abuse and sex crimes in New York City and I received a terrific review that all parents should read and was hoping you would join me in a Twitter and Facebook campaign. Here is the link if you are interested. http://superfunmama.blogspot.com/2009/11/my-body-belongs-to-me-talking-with.html
