I agree that books being published should be quality. I've had books come across my desk that I simply would not publish because the lack of content within. Just because you can get a book published does not mean it should be of poor quality.…

Hi Cindy, I, too, am an independent publisher and I'd be interested in what your process was to get your book on the Barnes and Nobel website. Thanks.

Jennifer - I don't know which publisher you're with but most publishers, even small ones (of which I am one) get their books onto the B & N website and a myriad of others as well. The 40% you talked about is low considering most take…

Congratulations Linda! You're doing it and making waves. Proud of you. I firmly believe self-publishing is the best way to go right now as the traditional publishers are struggling to find a way to make money and some of them are joining the…

I started my publishing company after doing much research. Knowing my memoir book would be a niche book and harder still to get it published traditionally, I decided to take the self-publishing route. My book came out, from my company, and is doing…

Quite Offended!

Posted on November 13, 2009 at 5:47pm 0 Comments

I must state that I am quite offended by Publishers Weekly for their unfortunate list of Best Books of 2009. It is amazing that they couldn't find one woman who would qualify for their list. I will say that my opinion of PW has drastically changed after viewing this list.

Women bring so very much more to a book than men do. They write with heart, feelings and love to inform, entertain and educate those about them. It is par for the course since the literary canon of works still… Continue

Hello Cindy and welcome to the NaNoWriMo-group!
I am glad to see another Nano-veteran join the group. So far, we got a lot of great input and help, especially in the outlining phase last month and this month, from people with years of experience in the challenge.
If you would like to share or ask something, just add to an existing thread or start a new one.

Hi Cindy, Thanks for the introduction. I agree, SheWrites is a great concept. My co-author and business partner and I also have recently set up our own publishing company. We'll be publishing our first book for ourselves in either December or January but we've just published a book for one of our clients...a vet who has written an excellent book called Dog Dish Diet. I will check out your site.
