Clare,

I wanted to give you an update on my biography of Stella Adler.  It's in the hands of LA's preeminent literary agents who I was referred to through a friend, but now I'm playing the waiting game.  In the mean time, I launched a blog dedicated to the book.  Will you follow it at http://alifeinartstellaadler.wordpress.com/? Thanks for the support!

No, I just developed a relationship with one of the editors from O magazine. If I were you I'd milk your relationship with Save the Children to find similar US organizations that might sponsor you. You could also query parenting publishing outlets like Parents Magazine and Parenting magazine with a personal essay feature. Have you joined mediabistro? It gives you all the editor contacts for magazines to help you build your platform. Let me know when you're in LA so I can attend your book signing. And keep adding to your social networking on SheWrites, Twitter, Facebook to promote yourself.

Clare,
Thanks for writing. I'm "building my writer's platform," waiting to get published in a couple national print outlets before resubmitting my book proposal for Stella Adler because before I got a lot of interest, but I don't want to just publish the biography, as my writing consultant said, I want to publish it well. You know how the industry it is nowadays the author has to bring her own audience and prove it, so since I never really focused on publishing anything besides my poetry, I'm really just beginning my journalistic career so I can publish the biography "well." Do you agree this is a good strategy? How'd you do about beginning your career?
