[THE WRITER'S LIFE] My Book

My book. We all use that phrase: I’ll get to the (laundry, dishes, litter box, job search) just as soon as I finish my book. My book. It doesn’t matter whose actual book it is--Patricia Cornwell, Dan Brown, Mark Twain, Jane Austen--once we pick it up, peek inside at a random page and inhale deeply as we clutch it in our hands, it…See More

As I write this, I am waiting to hear the outcome of yet another writing competition I entered several months back. As in, today is the announcement day. But have I been checking my email since last week at a rate only a crazy person would understand? Yes.I gathered up a bunch of words I thought sounded good together and sent…See More

[THE WRITER'S LIFE] Can You Write Something For Me?

Posted on October 16, 2016 at 4:00am 1 Comment

I’m not picking on my brother-in-law, but he’s the latest person to have asked me this question: Can you write something for me? This familiar and frequent question is usually preceded by, “You’re the writer”… as if we writers are the only ones…

Cindy, it's great to hear that the journey of your book has been so positive. That is always heartening news since writing and publishing is such a complex endeavour. Thank goodness, writers are so willing to come together in community. What a difference that makes. Here's hoping that your book continues to do well and that your writer's journey continues to be a happy one!

Hi, Cindy! Hey, are you a member of the CT secret FB page started by Sandra Rodriguez Barron? Or the American Authors and publishers' Guild (also from CT)? Just found out about both trolling here. (I'm so far behind.)

Hi Cindy,

I LOVE OLLI! Yes, I teach for them and have also done my two women show for them a couple of times as a fundriser. (It's on my blog.) Great bunch. I need to check out your website and blog - sounds like we are kindred spirits! Have a great weekend, Tracey

It's hard for me to stop reading your blog. Your tone - the laughing while you are fighting back the tears (sort of) is exactly the irreverence that comes naturally to me too. I was afraid to tell you because I think you are better at it than I. (We both have fallen asleep watching marathons of Law and Order: SVU)...

The Way of Water or What to Do with My Anger

My anger seethes. In theory, I know it is not healthy, yet I seek out what produces it. It’s an addiction. My anger came to a peak after watching the movie “Welcome to Sarajevo.” Critics claimed it was not accurate and that there are better movies…See More
