I currently teach journalism and English comp at a local community college. I write freelance feature articles and am working on a memoir about my life growing up poor in Arkansas.
My biggest literary influences include Hunter S. Thompson, John McPhee, Mary Roach, Barbara Ehrenreich and Dave Barry. When I'm not teaching or writing, I love to travel - in fact, my dream is to combine my love of international travel with writing.
