Words Make The world Go Round

The statement ‘Words make the World Go Round’ is really a no brainer. When I was at school, words and english, correct english was a necessary evil. Not all of us thought that words were a doorway to a magical world that you could create yourself, a world limited only by your imagination. I can’t remember thinking to my self “I want to be a writer”. I just wrote. About anything and everything. I think before writing became all-important to me I drew and most of all I read and read and read. I…See More

Music and Writing Go Hand in Hand

'Yes but what is my talent?' I can remember asking my mum this question occasionally as I grew up. She always said that each of us had God-given talents and that one day they would become obvious. Well I waited and waited. MY brother was an exceptional pianist and my sister sang country songs, they were both very talented. Me? I was just me. Nothing I did struck me (or anyone else) as particularly talented. Here I am fifty years young and I think I may have discovered the meaning of the word…See More

Family Diaries and Documents

Recently I've heard from several people who have diaries, journals, poetry and other documents from ancestors. Let's share what treasures we have, what they teach us about ourselves, and how we can use them as the basis for our own writing.

Dianne's Profile

Hey Hello to everyone! This is partially to introduce myself to you'all and let you know a little about me and mine, and probably more importantly it is about belief in myself.

This all stem back to about grade 2 and friday mornings 'show and tell'. I hated it, dreaded it, loathed it, was terrified of it. All of the above. For a start I generally had nothing to show and very little to tell- end of story. Now when someone asks me about my self, I think what do I have to say that is interesting, so I stall. I leave answering that question until it becomes like a toothache-something has to be done! So I shall endeavour to address the issue.

  • Yes I am human, at least most of the time.
  • I have been writing for ages. My first novella was about Donny Osmond( OK enough laughing) I was a teenaged girl who won a competition to go to America and meet the Justin Beeber of the 70's. Of course I end up marrying him ( pathetic,I know).
  • In the real world, I am a farmer's wife and my family and I live in a tiny place called Headington Hill, on the Darling Downs in Queensland Australia.

Hello Diane!

I want to personally Thank You for Joining my group Blooming Late!

I was looking over your profile which was enjoyable actually but was unhappy as the blog link didn't come up for me and I thought I would let you know it wasn't working properly.

Let me tell you some about our group-

There are many wonderful women in our group from all genres and levels of writing who are a real source of support, enouragement and inspiration. I hope that you will be able to make your writing home with us!

Please when you have time let us get to know you a bit better by posting in our "To kick things off" discussion or if you don't feel like doing an extensive intro then just say Hello" on our wall on the front page.

We have just started something new here. We have launched our own group platform,we have our own group blog called "The Blooming Late Journal" which link can be found in our discussion area if you would like to write a post in and then plug your blogs and your own platform.

Then we have our own Twitter hashtag so we can talk to each other in there as well as make sure to retweet each others important links. It is #BLWriters

And best of all as of last Monday we have our own group Facebook Fanpage under Blooming Late Authors, please LIKE the page and then feel free to do your plugging there as well as put things in there that you may find useful or fun for the group to see in there.

We would like it if as time allows, you would "friend" everyone in the group in here, Facebook and Twitter so that our groups publicity potential is maximized for all the writing work we do and is seen out there on the net.

We also have a pages section to the left of the group wall where you can list your FB/Twitter handles (which I would ask if you could get that up right away so that everyone could connect with you), blog and book when it's published among other things like your birthday etc. We also have useful our PAGES and DISCUSSION areas that might be a help to your writing. You can choose to follow as many or as little Discussions as will interest and help you,we don't have any requirements on how much anyone participates but I would ask if you will set your settings in here to recieve the group emails so that you can be kept up on anything important in the group as a whole. On average I only email the entire group once a month.

And if there's anything I can personally do, I'll be happy to help with anything you may need.

I am glad you are here and welcome to YOUR group!

Hi Dianne,

Nothing says great story like a great murder! (In my humble opinion.)  What are you working on at the moment?

Hi Dianne, I am looking forward to learning from you and am very happy you accepted me as a friend. I find this type of forum a better place to learn than something more rigid with mega rules and expectations. Those things are often counterproductive for me and stunt the very creativity I am endeavouring to express. What was is that kept you going long before you were published? Where you in a Writers Group at that time?

Dianne,
Not to worry, that was long ago, in the Sixties. Vin Clay went through Dunkirk, subsequently served in the Commandos.

Thank you so much for your comments Dianne! I notice you spell mum like I do, so does this mean you are English also?? I enjoy different kinds of writing. Right now I'm working on a novel about my grandmothers and a self-help book about surviving poverty. I write Christian and human rights articles when inspired and love English humour (and spelling,) which is correct spelling. LOL I find the things that people do extremely funny but jokes don't appeal to me much. I enjoy writing about my children and the funny things that sometimes happen in their lives. Also, would you like to be my friend? (I feel like I'm in Kindergarden and it's the first day of school. You seem friendly!)

A little dramatic! Perhaps, but then maybe like me you will understand when you finish reading this post and hopefully watching the attached video.I first heard of Joseph Koney from my two youngest sons who haunt the world of social networking- in particular Facebook. Of course nosey mum that I am I asked in total ignorance who was Joseph Koney?

Both son's then proceeded to point me in the direction of my ipad and they uploaded a video that…

I Live Next Door to a Zoo-- Do You?

If anyone had told me that one day I would wake up hearing lions roar in the next paddock, I would have checked to see if it was April the first. But as true as I am sitting here blogging away, every day around 5pm just as I am feeding my eleven cats, a fine deep baritone groowwl from a number of big cats can be heard not more than 200 metres away.

Creepy? Well a little surreal maybe, even makes you sit and think for a moment, at how God really does work in…
