I agree with you but I think everyone wants to label things so that they can say that's not me. Clearly these people who do such horrible things are crazy but that could happen to anyone. Anyone could go crazy and they don't want to look…

That is so sad.  I too have been the victim of abuse and lies and I believe thats what my family members are afraid of reading.  I actually just skimmed that surface in my book.  I may put that [life] in another memoir!

They have not read the book.  It was offered to them but they never took me up on the offer.  As far as the law I believe as long as you are not intentionally malicious and do not write anything that would keep these 2 from working and…

When I decided to write about the murder of my brother I received little if no support.  I wrote a memoir; my brothers murder and my reaction.  My story. I decided if I was going to write the book it would be 100% honest.  No fake…

Letting Go

I have been a ‘writer’ for years. I started covering school board meetings and counsel meetings in my small town for the small town’s small newspaper. I spent hours on each piece making sure I did not miss a word; or the most embarrassing of all I would just die if I miss quoted anyone. I realize those were the days when I was learning my craft, preparing for my dream of writing fiction. I wanted to write books but I had to be patient. I had to do my time. When my youngest child, Jillian, was…See More

The Conversation needs to Start Here:

As a young girl and a member of the girl scouts we went on a field trip to sing Christmas Carols at a place called “Byberry”.   Byberry was the Philadelphia State Hospital for the mentally insane. It was the darkest, most frightening place and left an impression on my young mind that I still cannot shake.

Not that long ago, as a society we locked our crazy people away, far away from all.  We put them in asylums to never be heard from again.  This practice in most cases subjected our…

The Perfect Gift

Posted on January 7, 2011 at 5:53pm 0 Comments

Of all the new fangled electronic gadgets to choose from this past holiday season it would have been difficult to go wrong when selecting a gift for the writer in your life.

When I attended high school in Bucks County, Pa.  in the 70′s {yikes} we had a class called typing.  I hated that class.  Not the best class to hate if you were an aspiring writer.

My grades were excellent in English, Math, History, Science and Health.  When it came to typing I just could not do it…the…

Hi Doreen, Thanks for the message. I am glad to hear that Tate Publishing is interested in your work. I found Tate to be quite helpful and supportive to me in this experience. I was impressed with Stacy Baker who was my acquisitions rep. and it was a pleasure working with Kristen Verser who designed the cover of my book. Most of all I really enjoyed working with Nathan Harmony who worked with me on the layout design. He was receptive to my ideas, and very creative in his suggestions. I would definitely recommend Tate Publishing, but also be aware that you will have to do your share in promoting and making the book a success. Just go for it with gusto! - Jean

It feels good to be part of something that I so enjoy, writing. Due to an illness in my family, I am not doing much writing these days but hope to start up soon. I still practice writing in my journal almost daily and still hope to keep in touch with everyone on, She Writes, as often as I can. J. Nolting
