Forgotten Women

I am thinking today of some forgotten women.  It is because of my ‘day’ job that I am thinking of these women, who at one time in history were good wives, daughters, sisters and friends to someone. Some of them have blazed the path for all of us, and became the first female doctors, lawyers and business owners.  I think also of the forgotten women that once lived glorious happy hour, dinner party lives and were the leaders of the wood- sided station wagon brigade and served as the heart of…See More

A Funny Thing Happened in the Supermarket..

*Disclaimer:  I really try to stay away from the ever ugly politics and religion.  I really do.  Today I just feel compelled to have a conversation.

My intention is NOT to upset or hurt anyone; honestly…I’m all about love, tolerance and peace.  I wish we could just learn to use the correct words.

So a strange ‘thing’ happened at the grocery store the other day.  In front of me, walking in the door was a woman in full burka…

Letting Go

Posted on July 22, 2011 at 7:30pm 0 Comments

I have been a ‘writer’ for years. I started covering school board meetings and counsel meetings in my small town for the small town’s small newspaper. I spent hours on each piece making sure I did not miss a word; or the most embarrassing of all I would just die if I miss quoted anyone.

I realize those were the days when I was learning my craft, preparing for my dream of writing fiction. I wanted to write books but I had to be patient. I had to do my time.

When my youngest child,… Continue

Hi Doreen, Thanks for the message. I am glad to hear that Tate Publishing is interested in your work. I found Tate to be quite helpful and supportive to me in this experience. I was impressed with Stacy Baker who was my acquisitions rep. and it was a pleasure working with Kristen Verser who designed the cover of my book. Most of all I really enjoyed working with Nathan Harmony who worked with me on the layout design. He was receptive to my ideas, and very creative in his suggestions. I would definitely recommend Tate Publishing, but also be aware that you will have to do your share in promoting and making the book a success. Just go for it with gusto! - Jean

It feels good to be part of something that I so enjoy, writing. Due to an illness in my family, I am not doing much writing these days but hope to start up soon. I still practice writing in my journal almost daily and still hope to keep in touch with everyone on, She Writes, as often as I can. J. Nolting

Oh Doreen -- I am so sorry about your step-son's accident. I will/am definitely sending prayers for him your way. Is there anything else I can do to help? Again, I am so so sorry. Keep me updated. Love, Rebecca
