Mary, I love the idea of a Phoenix! You have no idea, I put my project in the attic so many times...I eventually stopped caring if anybody wanted it, and just started having fun with the process of writing and drawing, that lovely addictive process…

Hi Brooke and fellow PP entrants! I was disappointed, but it was not unexpected. I knew I had a proposal that was focused and ready-to-go somewhere more appropriate for my niche (I am an author/illustrator) So what the heck! I figured I could survi…

Hi! I was hesitant about using POD, but when faced with "this doesn't fit any niche" rejection letters, I decided to just forge ahead and test the waters by putting out the product myself, also using CreateSpace (formerly Booksurge). While I have no…

not a single woman...

As a working woman artist, I'm sure my life is not very different than many of my fellow She-Writers, balancing the day job with the second-shift home responsibilities, and yet somehow managing to find the energy to create. I work all day, take care of my family, and then in the few semi-conscious hours I have left over, am writing and illustrating my next book.

This is "End Fat Talk" Week!

I write and create art about positive body image and self-esteem for the plus-size majority. The TriDelta Sorority has put together a program for college-age women, who suffer from the highest percentage of eating disorders and low self-esteem of all women. I've posted their wonderful short video (all animated text) as well as my essay, illustration and excerpt from my book "More to Love" as this week's blog post.

My cousin, Em, doesn't see it. She sees a plain face, limp hair, fat rolls, etc. But to me she's beautiful, and maybe I'm biased, but she's the most beautiful woman I've ever known or seen. It's because she's the sister I never had, my sister in Chr…
