What is the first book you remember? It could have been something you had read to you or something you read yourself. Do you feel it affected your future in any way?

Padmavani Karkera said… Hello Elizabeth
The pleasure was entirely mine. When Maureen emailed me about the prize, I surfed the net for John Donahue's poems and found one that so beautiful and filled with hope. And I thought about how you take care to visit blogs of fellow writers and leave your impressions there and always about what you loved about the poem. I am sure that must be so encouraging and uplifting to the writers. I am sure you will enjoy the gift. Here is an excerpt of the poem Beannacht written by Donahue.
when the canvas frays
in the curach of thought
and a stain of ocean
blackens beneath you,
may there come across the waters
a path of yellow moonlight
to bring you safely home.
Enjoy the book. I know you will!
Cheers
Padmavani
