Profile Information

Who I am:
After 20 years as a non-profit arts administrator in Southern California, I decided to concentrate on writing. Currently, I'm working on a memoir of my 40-plus years living in two cultures, including eight years in Tehran, during the turbulent period of 1971 to 1980. I have a BA in Studio Art from the University of California at Davis and an MA in English Language and Literature from Tehran University. I have taught English in universities in Iran and Southern California.
Books I've written, anthologies I've contributed to, and any scripts or plays I've authored:
My essay, "Front Yard Fruit," which first appeared in the Winter 2010 issue of the journal Alimentum: The Literature of Food, is included in the anthology, New California Writing 2011 (Heyday, April 2011). Other essays and poems have appeared in the journals Slouching Toward Mt. Rubidoux Manor and Phantom Seed.
My writing is:
Nonfiction, Memoir
Services I offer to other writers:
Editing.
I'm part of these writers' groups or salons:
Inlandia writers workshops; I'm also a member of an informal writers group that started in a University of California Extension creative writing workshop. We've been together for 5 years now.
My professional associations:
Board member of Inlandia Institute (www.inlandiainstitute.org), promoting the literary activities of Inland Southern California in word, image and sound; member of Inland Empire California Writers Club and the Association of Iranian American Writers.

Thanks for the comment! You might be the only person who read my story. :) That's great that you were able to learn something from the other person to work on your own memoir! Was it just another way of looking at your life, or a similar event that triggered your memory?
