When I Learned to Drive

Growing up in New York State, the first time you could legally slide into the driver’s side of a car and take off down the road was at age 16. But something my parents never found out was that I was driving a car when I was four years old! Well, perhaps driving isn’t totally accurate. But it sure felt like driving to me.The lady across the street from where my parents had moved when I was a baby became intrigued at what was in that baby carriage. And, my mother, with two older children to look…See More

No Watching Football on TV for Me

Football was quite important to my father. But there were no Sunday afternoon or evening football games to watch when I was growing up. Football was important to my father from when he was a youth. Not only did he play football in high school; post high school, as he was apprenticed to a stone mason, he played on weekends in a semi-professional team.…See More

Foodgasm Episode 9: Triple Threat Brownies

Oh these brownies are dangerous! They're addictive but legal. Saucy chef Ashley Simone creates a sensational dessert, one designed to result in a foodgasm.

Fish for Friday

Posted on February 21, 2013 at 9:17pm 0 Comments

It's Friday. Besides the fact that it signals the start of the weekend, it may also mean the time to avoid meet. Now people opt for eating fish instead of meat for a number of reasons, from religious ones (yes, it's the Lenten season),  to dietary reasons (3 ounces of orange roughy  equals 89 calories compared to 3 ounces of lean steak, 159 calories), to a commitment to starting to eat lower on the food chain (complicated issue here, if you are looking at environmental issues, beef vs.…

Food in the movies. Well, maybe for some of you that means what you buy at the concession stand. Pretty sure that doesn’t produce foodgasms!

But food in the movies: in previous posts we’ve looked at wonderful feasts. Like the incredible spread in Babette’s Feast. Or the incredible dish and the heart incorporated in that, in…

Women Telling Stories

Posted on January 23, 2013 at 10:35am 0 Comments

Does it make a difference, whether a man or a woman tells a story?

Apparently, in the film world it does.

This quote comes from a study just released, sponsored by the Sundance Institute and Women in Film.  Created by…

Hello dear Etta. Nice to connect with too. May we remain 'children in blooming' and although I greatly enjoy the art of food, I must leave the indulging behind as my half nude body is now sighing 'enough honey'. Best wishes and love the movies as well (independant films) :-)
