The worst part of the New Year is the bombardment of resolutions, gloriously marketed by friends and family on how this year will be different.  This year is the year to get in shape, to stop smoking, to travel more, to find Mr. or Ms. right...to make more money, blah, blah, blah.  I'm burnt out on resolutions.  I have been a victim of these resolutions...breaking them in a matter of days, weeks, months...sometimes hours.  I swore I wouldn't fall prey to the game this year, but internally I…See More

I will write....even if it kills me. It just might.

A quintessential procrastinator...my mind is dank, dark tomb of lost memories, ideas, and dreams.  I occasionally have a spark of enthusiasm- a burst of energy I suppose only to become muddled in my surroundings and quickly stored in the basement with all the other creative brain cells.  I can write on a deadline.  I proved that with many years of college work which has given me nothing in return.  It's my own fault really...I make excuses.  I reign supreme in this area.  A detriment to my…See More

Night has set in choking the landscape out of existence,

smothering the trees with dense fog.  There’s

an iridescent glow peeking through scattered silhouettes.  The full moon I suppose.  Off in the distance the train whistle cuts

through the thickness, though muffled it sends a chill down my spine.  Before long there will be nothing left to

guide me out of this hellish place.  I

fear I have waited too long to find my way tonight.

Moments in time linger breathless

Fragments of light caress the dying soul

Daydreams waft aimlessly

Traces of darkness teeter on the minds edge

Joy is fleeting sorrow

Hope denied by songs of grief

Willowing away in the depths

Harmony stands chaotic

Frankie, Delighted to have you in the novelist group! You might introduce yourself by telling us what you’re working on in the “Show Me Your Novel and I’ll Show You Mine” discussion if you're not too uncomfortable talking about what you're working on. We save the wall for discussion, so please refrain from linking to blog posts there, but do add them in the “Links to Helpful Blog Posts for Writers” discussion thread. And we do a live chat every Wednesday at 1EST; instructions on how to participate are in the "Our Water Cooler Wednesdays" box near the top of the group page. Hope you can join us for that.

Hi Frankie,

So glad you are here, and welcome to She Writes!

You can check out the Getting Started section to help you find your way around, or a great way to jump in is to get involved with our groups. You might particularly want to check out the Non Fiction Writers group.

Warm best,
