A Silent "Great Job for Trying"

To my niece Ashley on her not so triumphant first try at the "American Idol" tryouts. Wanted to say congratulations even if you didn't make it past the second round, you went there without fear and you tried! More than a lot of people would do, more than I would do. You now know what its all about, you met some great people, played music with them and now you know what you must do before next years attempt. Great Job...

Tomorrow.....
- You will not redesign, yet again, your blog... It is fine the way it is.
- You will spend your time more productively, like maybe writing something to post on the blog.
- You will write more than five pages and not write one page then delete it.
- You will not edit while you write.
- And you will stop the "Fatkins Diet" - chips are not a three course meal..
Now if I can just remember to look at this list!
What would you do if your great idea was just release by another author?

So for the pas few weeks I thought I had this great idea for a book.. Started my notes, outlines and research. But this morning I'm reading through my PW Daily newsletter and what do I find? The release of a similar book... Arrrghhh. Now what?
Has this happened (which I'm sure it has) to anyone else? And what was your next step?
- Did you scrap the idea
- Revise the plot or story
- Tweak it and use the idea in another…
