A New Experience

My search for an agent has finally ended.  No, I didn’t find an agent who’s working diligently to find a publisher for my book, Moon Signs.  After sending out seventy-five queries with no real success, I decided to make my novel available through CreateSpace in paperback form and with Amazon for Kindle users.I had received several encouraging notes from agents, and there were two who wanted to see my complete manuscript.  One of these suggested changes and wanted to work with me, but our ideas…See More

Profile Information

Who I am:
Helen Haught Fanick’s short stories have appeared in Women’s Household, Midnight Zoo, Vermont Ink, and in various anthologies. Her articles and photos have been published in Texas Observer, Stepping Stones, and other periodicals. Her poem, Leaf Fall, was published in Nature’s Gifts, an anthology to benefit The Nature Conservancy. She has won several local and state awards, and two national awards in the Writer’s Digest Competition.

Helen’s novel, Moon Signs, was a quarter-finalist in the 2011 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards. The second novel in the Moon Mystery Series, Moonlight Mayhem, and a collection of three short stories, Bad Moon Rising, were published in January 2012. All are available through Amazon. Moonlight Mayhem and Bad Moon Rising are available through Barnes & Noble. Saving Susie, a suspense novel, just reached the second level of the 2012 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards and will be published soon.

Helen is a graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in English and lives in San Antonio with her husband.
