So glad to hear from you. Thanks for friending me. I belong to an organization called Feminenza, we are online. We do a lot of work in Africa with personal development for women also gender studies and forgiveness work.
It's the story of a child who was never allowed to have a voice in anything that happened to her. She found out she could sing and sing she did. Through 3 children, 2 divorces, no money, and no emotional support she manages to have a career in…

Hi there -- just wanted to drop by your page and invite you personally (or at least virtually) to our first-ever She Writes Orlando Florida meetup, celebrating our first-anniversary! We are so grateful to the event's organizer, Kemari Howell, for taking a risk and stepping up to host. I hope you will support her and bring yourself and other women who write (no need for them to be members) to the Orlando gathering. At the meetup writers will take part in the She Writes "Book Communion," where attendees arrive with one book, their own or another She Writers', new or gently used, and leave with another book as a meaningfully way to support one another's work. We will also be blowing out a candle and making a wish for our upcoming writing year -- along with She Writers gathering in 16 cities around the country. I hope you will be part of this historic (well, at least kind of cool) occasion, and RSVP now to Kemari.
Oh my, a little about myself. I have written and deleted and written and deleted here, not sure what to say. Then I remembered I have an About Me page on my site that pretty much says it all. If you would like: http://debrakreps.com/about-me/
Sorry for the extremely delayed response. As you can see, the kids consume a great deal of my time. I'm back at work now so, my time is very limited. I have also been working on the layout for my website, writing queries and just finished my second set of edits. I feel like I have two full time jobs. How are things going with you?

I hope you will find, as I did, a great sense of community, loads of information and resources, and an incredible amount of talent.

Same here. I'm looking to hopefully get an agent. How close are you to finishing your memoir? I just finished my first set of revisions so I have a little ways to go.
I'm working on my first book of non-fiction,and am new to the game. I'm not sure if I should try to self-publish or get a literary agent. Any suggestions?
Also, are there any professional writers associations, you'd recommend? I see that you are part of the Florida Writers Association and International women Writers Guild. How did you get involved?
What a great way to come from singing opera and turn that knowledge and wisdom into helping others find their voices! I find it fascinating from how many angles we can come to "voice" ourselves, and how this is linked to finding one's voice for any piece of writing. And from there to guiding, coaching, counseling which, again, needs its own very special voice...
My father's death opened the closet of horrible memories and I began to write "ugly" as I called it then. I began to reach for some honesty in my writing as I went through three years of frequent flashbacks--not of HIM, but of another…
While I agree that we can get carried away and even use prompts and exercises as effective avoidance techniques to tell ourselves, well, we ARE writing something, I found two books and a couple of classes to be enormously helpful in getting me going…
