"Well said. What book festival-goers choose to buy is entirely up to them, and they're under no obligation to us. Keeping that in mind will keep an author happier and probably more successful in the long run!"
"I feel ya, but it's important to remember that what we do as writers demands a big investment of time, energy, and emotion from our audience. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just hang our novel on a wall for people to take in and admire in…"
"Just read your last post, and it's chilling. I was a full-time middle school teacher in the 90's and these days keep my hand in by subbing for the two local high schools and middle schools, the ages I feel the most affinity for. And even…"

"New to SheWrites, so just seeing your post, Barbra. Hoping your launch was and continues to be a great success — this is a much needed resource, and kudos to you for having the courage and generosity to write it."
I'm an emerging writer with a curious assortment of previous careers, including an actor in theater and television, middle school educator, nonprofit director and youth advocate, owner/operator of a specialty lumber business, and the former two-term mayor of a small city in Southern California. At one point in my youth I was a circus performer, who rode a llama, a water buffalo, and a Brahma bull in front of cheering crowds, quite without my parents’ knowledge. I live in Northern California with my husband Michael and my dog Molly. When not writing, I work with teenagers and with rescued horses, both of whom keep me grounded in this mysterious and challenging world we inhabit together

Northfield is my favorite town to take a day trip in the warm seasons. It is an rich autumn trip to drive by the apple orchards and farmhouses. The town is just far enough from the Cities that it feels like you left on a vacation. You have to pass…See More
