Cindy Brown said… Hello again, Janis! I read a few of your blog entries and here is what I think. You need to write a book, not a blog. Don't take that as a criticism, I will explain what I mean. While I can pump out short bursts of humor to entertain in blog-tastic fashion, what I read of you made me want to engross myself in who you are via a nice long book read. Your writing is very good and I can see that you do put a lot of effort into perfecting it. I saw you mentioned that you do not want to write a book and I agree that it should not be a book about cancer, but you could do a "finding yourself" book very easily and keep the reader engaged. If this makes any sense to you, your writing "felt" like a book! That's a good thing. I believe that if you wrote a book, it would be the kind of thing I'd want to share, give to a friend or family member afterward and not to be put on my shelf to collect dust. I think you should reconsider the book idea. Your posts flowed together like chapters in a book. As I read, I actually envisioned chapters. Sometimes I get insights that are strangely displaced and I feel I have to tell a person about them, even those I've just met, such as you. It usually ends up being something of value to that person in some weird way. It's a Twilight Zone/God thing I have going on. This was one of those times. Perhaps writing the book and thinking of it as a continuous flow of blog postings would help, LOL!
Nice work and I will be keeping my eye on you ;)

Hi Janis! Welcome. It's good to know I'm not the only twitter-challenged woman. Everyone else seems to find it simple. Ugh!
I want to finish my book by spring, but with social media stuff -- which I do like, actually -- it's hard to make headway on it. But I keep plugging along.
Good to meet you,
June

What if you can’t say what your blog is “about”? Or, what if you could say, in so many words, but resist saying because you don’t want to over-categorize yourself?
I know that I need to identify what my blog is “about” if I want it to have a distinct presence in the blogosphere—and my blog is the vehicle for my writing, which makes that all the more important. It’s not supplementary or promotional; I intend it to stand solely on its own two legs as—I…
