It's God's World, and it's "All Right"

It is sometimes difficult for me to express my deepest feelings about God without sounding flippant and blasé. I often think back to a time before I started to question the meaning of my life, and remember my mother (a devout Christian) rattling off bible verses and Christian clichés to which my internal comment had been “oh lord, here we go again”. Well, I found myself doing the same as she, and the only way I found of circumventing those internal comments from others is in writing poetry,… Continue

Jean, I work closer to home but I do work FT and have kids and all that. I write on lunch break when I can! I have about 100 pages of Flower Symbolism for Dummies done so far. And believe me, this cyber stuff freaks me out a bit and I am in no way, shape or form a networker! 63 miles is a long hike for you. I hope you like your job. I'm putting feelers out for something else. Have an interview comin up. Angels Carry the Sun is selling well, according to the publisher but for me it's too slow. I feel (and people tell me) that this is a special book, so the fact that I'm nearly invisible out here with no connections to Oprah or anything, is kind of dampening. How to I distinguish my truly special book from the hordes of people claiming "special" books?!

Hey there, Jean, I wish I could say I'd been writing AT ALL, but since Angels Carry the Sun came out, I haven't been writing at all! I've been selling books and emailing letters out to bookstores and stuff like that. So tired now! Tonight is my early-to-bed night!

Hi Jean, and thanks for your message! I'm not on here as much as I'd like to be, either, but am glad we're connected. Writing mercies to you this day and always,
Amy

Hey Jean, I always like to read and there were a good many people in the room b/c I was the first reader (so that turned out to be a good thing). I also met a couple of nice women writers, one of whose poetry books I scarfed down in two days, Big White Teeth, by Lana Hechtman Ayers. Loved it. Her life story as told via Little Red Riding Hood!

Thanks for the welcome and good wishes Jean...I was touched by your comments.I fully understand you wanting to just 'be'. Even in my journey with all the questions there are times I just have to be alone and 'be'. All my wants are open to clearification by God...I am sure as my Year's Journey continues He will fine tune the trip to take me where I need to be.
I am sure you will find your writing and poetry to be an element of healing for you...and for others who may be where you are. You are very brave to share your journey...I appreciate that and look forward to reading more. Take care...I will keep you in my prayers.
