Hi ladies - I've been working on my novel for what feels like forever and I keep going back and rewriting. I think I have finally perfected my first chapter and am in desperate need of another pair of eyes to have a look. It is a supernatural thrill…
Kelley - I tried sending you a message from your website, but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to send it. I would be happy to have a look at your work - you can send it to me at jdn02@rogers.com

I love this idea. I would be open to critiquing just about anything except fantasy sci-fi and erotica. I am looking for someone to critique my novel in progress. It is a supernatural thriller.

Last chapter -- you are in the home stretch! You've written the whole thing -- one little chapter can't hold you back. Just write it all down, no editing, no reworking and get it all on paper (the screen?). You are at the finish line, just throw you…
Ditto on the massive congratulations! I find sometimes doing other creative things will loosen up the log-jam - painting, photography, dancing, and sometimes a little time away can allow room for a new perspective.
Lots of wonderful advice. Thank you all so very much. I think my problem has been that I am feeling overwhelmed with the daunting task of now "fixing" my novel. I went a little off course in the middle (but for the better) and now I have to organize…
Jeanne I'd love to read your opening chapters if you still need a fresh pair of eyes. I also need someone to look at my first two chapters - would you be interested?
Hi Jeanne. Welcome to our Writers in Canada group! Glad to have you with us. Do drop in to the Introductions discussion to share a bit about yourself. We're a diverse group of writers covering every genre and form so it's always nice to hear what new members write. Looking forward to hearing from you in the group!

I'd like to know that too, Jeanne. I feel compelled to edit as I write, and when I hit a rough patch, I go through days of doubting my talent before I smack myself and move on.
As an editor making a comeback as a writer, it is often hard to separate the two vocations. In the beginning I found it hard to just write down the bones and flesh the story out later because I was hating everything I wrote unless it was perfect on the first pass. I would love to hear from other writers on how they get past feeling a little disappointed in themselves during the first draft process.
I'm always delighted, when at the close of reading my latest book, I can flip to the back and see what the author looks like. Sometimes I'm surprised, and sometimes the author looks similar to the way I envisioned them. But it's when there's no phot…
Since I write more of the romantic type of novels, looks are important for my characters. I come up with their look various ways. I envision what they should look like, and write their attributes down, or I use pictures of people I clip from magazin…
