Jeannie Babb Taylor commented on the group 'Mother Writer!'
"I'm just at the beginning of this process and so far have just one rejection. It was on the first query I sent out -- and they did ask for a partial before rejecting. So I should be encouraged, but I am so aware of what a long road is ahead. I…"

Jeannie Babb Taylor replied to the discussion 'Real historical figures' in the group Historical Fiction
"I have done both. I tend to write frame stories, so I'm inside one character's head in the third person, but the other central character is first person b/c she's telling the story to the other one. Hope that makes sense."

Jeannie Babb Taylor replied to the discussion 'Multiple Projects' in the group Fiction Writers
"ALWAYS. First of all, my novels tend to be multiple projects in themselves, stories within stories. But I always have at least a couple going. Right now my main WIP is a historical novel, but I'm also working on a paranormal YA romance. And…"

Jeannie Babb Taylor replied to the discussion 'On Submission' in the group Fiction Writers
"I also received my first rejection last week! And it happened 5 minutes after I quit my steady day job. Such is life. It was a pretty big blow, even though I knew that was the most likely outcome. I keep reminding myself that if ONE person…"

Jeannie Babb Taylor replied to the discussion 'Do You Do Contests?' in the group Fiction Writers
"So far I've only participated in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards (ABNA). My novel THE PROPHET'S MANTLE made quarter-finals (top 500 out of up to 10,000). I'm interested in doing more, but only if there is no entry fee."

Jeannie Babb Taylor replied to the discussion 'Writing Characters' in the group Fiction Writers
"I write mostly historical fiction, in which case many characters' names are a given. If not, though, I tend to picture them and listen for their voice first. I often change a character's name b/c the character's character (eek) turns…"
