"A WARNING ABOUT READERS
Last night my sister came by. After dinner we worked on my novel Daniel’s law. She was an alpha reader, and a betta reader, now a he reader (5th letter in the Greek alphabet – if memory serves…"
My four readers do not live near me either, well, one does. The other three get my pages in emails, and then they either email questions back or text me! It's quite easy. It would be lovely to be able to sit around my coffee table, with…"
In the interest of not hijacking this topic, I just started a new one in the general section. It's intended to be a spot where people can go to post their interest in either finding alpha readers or becoming one. My hope…"
"I understand. After 6 years of blogging, I've come to think of blogging like friends. Depending on where you are in your life, you are closer to some than others. As life changes, close friends can meander out to the periphery while others come…"
"My alpha readers are saints. I'm currently on the nine gazillionth draft of chapter 12 of my second, first novel and these ladies are still sticking with me! Not to sound like an ass, but I'm glad everyone else seems to be somewhere on the…"
"Hey Ladies - just wanted to let you know that my blog riff on the old "Choose Your Own Adventure stories is going so well. I am actually reaching READERS. People are actually interested in my writing and my brand. I'm stunned at the…"
"I just gave the first 65 pages of my now finished YA historical fiction to my 4 alpha readers! Yes, 4, mostly because they all wanted to do it, and I couldn't choose between them! I should get great feedback. Can't wait to hear what they…"
"Hi everyone! I just wanted to circle back about some of these thoughts I've had about a writers' blog/website -- especially for those of us just starting out.
I wanted to do something that would gain interest and excitement in my…"
I just opened the door to the novelist group for you - welcome! You might introduce yourself by telling us what you’re working on in the “Show Me Your Novel and I’ll Show You Mine” discussion if you're not too uncomfortable talking about what you're working on. And we do a live chat every Wednesday; hope you can join us for that!
Jen, Welcome to She Writes. Nice to have you join us in the BBW group. If you’re looking for another place to jump in, we’d love to have you join us in the Novelists – Struggling or Not group. Enjoy the site!
Hi Jen, thank you so much for your note. It's always nice to discover that someone is actually reading this stuff! (I'm sorry my blog won't let you comment - will have a word.) I've had such a nice response I think I may write more about it - with all the other types between the two extremes of Diamonds and Butterfly wings. If you'll let me play fairy god mother for a moment, I think you will grow up to be as attractive as the Butterfly Wings and as resilient as a Diamond! xx Thanks again for stopping by.
I have trouble finding stuff myself. I didn't have it spelled out that the link was for my blog, but that's okay, because it was an old link anyway! The new one is http://www.robinsimondsfitch.com/WP-blog/ Looking forward to reading yours :)
"Hang in there, Lynn! I had many dark days when writing my first draft. I went back to the beginning a few times, I will admit, but I also forced myself to go forward and eventually finish it. Now, after much editing, I have a book I'm ready to…"
"Oops - hit that button by mistake...
I wanted to say thank you for writing this, and you are quite correct: beating myself up constantly for not being productive is not making things better, it is making them worse. And it certainly is not helping…"
