Mindful About This Holiday

I had a blog post in mind this morning, that had nothing to do with Martin Luther King Jr.  Then I read a quote a friend posted on Facebook, and couldn’t resist being mindful about today.“History will have to record that the greatest tragedyof this period of social transitionwas not the stridentclamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence ofthe good people.” ~MLK Jr. More at the Evolving…See More

It's Present Time...Oh Dear God...

Except, not this year.Every year, I make the intention that I am going to be creative for Christmas and everyone I know will receive some lovely, handmade, crafted, cooked, off the beaten path wonder. Yet, every single year I put the actual ‘making’ of said items off until the last moment, and then race around doing the store dash along with everyone else.To make matters worse, I spend countless hours deciding on what to get for my kids. I search high and low for things I think they will like,…See More

HUSBANDS and BOUNDARIES

It seems to me that husbands just might not understand that there are certain boundaries they shouldn't cross. For example, they shouldn't invite themselves to girls nite's with a six pack and cigars in hand. Nor should they let you know how dirty the house is unless they feel like picking up a broom and getting to work. Husbands should not feel burdened by spending time with their own children; yes I belong to that 'It's not babysitting if their your own children' group on Facebook, and they…See More

MAMAVISM MONDAY: RUN FOR CONGO WOMEN

Every Monday I will have information to share about events coming up, groups and non-profits you might be interested in, green ideas to implement, people that are amazing me in their efforts; basically any actions I think will show off the true range and magnificence of MAMAVISM! It is so important for us to remember small changes make a big difference when done collectively. Our wallets, our choices, companies we support, ways we reduce at home, all make an impact in the future world our…See More

A Green Gift Wrap Attack

I am singing the glorious praises of 'reduce, reuse, recycle' today! My son wont let me forget it either, as it is the most commonly spoken sentence on Bob the Builder. But now that he has caught on to what I am doing, he won't let me throw anything at all out, not even into the recycle bin...which is going to soon pose a problem.I have no idea what happened, it was one of those crazy light bulb moments Mom's tend to have at the strangest and most inopportune time. Last week, while I was making…See More

Breaking News: Brown Thumb Plants Seeds

I am actually terrified.I couldn't get my mind around it exactly this evening. As the smell of fresh soil wafted through the house, I stood in the kitchen staring at the plethora of seed packets on the counter. I was utterly afraid."Afraid of what?" you ask.I am doubting my ability to grow a thing. I am doubting that a single seed, that the children and I diligently planted on this glorious spring day, will even sprout. I am worried that my husband will be incredibly disappointed after spending…See More
