It was Madeleine L’Engle’s ability to prioritize and let some things go that allowed her to write through years of rejection letters…See More

Cynthia, definitely, let's try to meet up at AWP. I will only be there on Saturday and I'm reading on a panel just before the She Writes event. But maybe earlier on Saturday? :-)

Working Moms in a Post-Feminist World

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 9:58am 1 Comment

Because I am a new mother working at home with limited childcare, I have been thinking lately how I have no models for how to do this in a healthy and productive manner—healthy for my relationship with my 5-month-old son, productive for my work and my career.

Growing up in the church, I knew very few married women who worked, period. Those who did were usually not professionals, and there was this vague sense that floated from and towards them that they had to work…

So sorry Jessica....I was swamped the last couple of days.  My license plate fell off the front of my car so had to go to where happiness goes to die (DMV).  And finishing up my book and getting it all formatted so I have been working like a maniac.  But YES....I wanna meet for coffee.  It might be to short notice but do you have time tomorrow afternoon?  I am working with my graphic girl in the morning but what about 1 at Panama?

If it's not enough time then I can do next week.  What about next Tuesday afternoon.

Again, I apologize.  I first thought I replied and then couldn't remember because that's how the brain works now ;)

Let me know about tomorrow....you can email at Lmmtoo@yahoo.com or text or call at 510-219-3851

Hey Jessica,

I am around for the next three weeks, putting finishing touches on my novel to get it to the printers and up on the eBooks sites by April 1.  Then I leave for vacation until the 9th of April.  Any chance you have time for coffee at my favorite place, Red Panama, when you get back?  You can contact me at my email of Lorena@LorenaBBooks.com or on Facebook at Lorena Bathey.

So excited to meet you and hear about you and your writing.

Hi Jessica--how is the Children's Book Writing coursework going? I have a side project going--got Robyn Beattie (that stellar photographer in our family) to start some watercolors to go with a children's book I started 8 years ago. Will show it to you when we get it going.
