NYC Prosecutor Launches "The Innocence Revolution"- A Global Day to End Child Sexual Abuse - 4/14/13

Tomorrow is The Innocence Revolution - A Global Day to End Child Sexual Abuse - 35 States and 40 Countries Signed on to Host Events! As a child sexual abuse prevention specialist, I was asked last May to speak in Rome at their 4th Annual National Day Against Pedophilia. It was an amazing opportunity and I returned wondering how Italy could be celebrating their 4th Annual when in the United States we had never even had a first. I started talking to some people about what would be on their wish…See More

To combat the global child sexual abuse crisis, Starishevsky, Scales and other child advocates– some of whom were victims themselves – have formed The Innocence Revolution to increase awareness, educate the public and to marshal global support. The Innocence Revolution will officially launch this important initiative simultaneously in countries around the world on April 14, 2013. This is the first global event of its kind. There are many ways to support The Innocence Revolution and help protect…See More

Profile Information

Who I am:
I am a mother of three and a prosecutor of child abuse and sex crimes in New York City. During the course of my fourteen years of public service, I have successfully prosecuted hundreds of offenders. My first book “My Body Belongs to Me”, is intended to prevent child sexual abuse by teaching children that their bodies are their own. Written for children three to ten, the overriding message is if someone touches a child inappropriately, they should tell a parent or teacher right away. Repped by Peter Rubie of FinePrint Literary Management.

In April 2011, I had the pleasure of appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show to discuss what motivated me to write My Body Belongs to Me. See video clip below.

In October 2006, I launched HowsMyNanny.com to support parents and their children. HowsMyNanny.com is the first online nanny reporting service that works to keep children safe by enabling parents to receive positive or negative feedback on their child’s caregiver via a license plate attached to the child’s stroller.

Outside the courtroom, my fondness for writing led me to create thepoemlady.com, where I pen personalized pieces for all occasions.

10 Tips to a Happier 2012

Posted on December 28, 2011 at 10:53pm 41 Comments

For the past twenty years, I have shared one of my favorite guides, Life’s Little Instruction Book, as part of my New Year’s Eve celebration.  The book is made up of tips and advice that help one lead a fuller, happier life.  Some of my favorites include, “resist the temptation to buy a boat” and “compliment three people a day.”  Traditionally, each person I am celebrating with adds a tip to the end of the book.  One year, my brother-in-law added, “conserve water, shower with a…

10 Reasons Not to Discuss Child Sexual Abuse in 2012

Posted on December 26, 2011 at 11:44pm 15 Comments

I have heard them all.  I have heard all the reasons why parents don’t discuss child sexual abuse prevention with their children.  I have heard them so often that I can recite them by heart.  As the new year approaches, I decided it would be a good idea to memorialize the top 10 reasons for not discussing the subject.  I invite you to add any that may have been omitted.

  1. Children are seldom victims of sexual abuse.  Actually, according to the U.S. Centers for…

Jill,

Thank you so much for introducing yourself to me.

I truly appreciate your work and am inspired by your strength.

I am just getting my feet wet on this very difficult subject and trying diligently to get the word out and help these kids, all kids, one kid, any child.  I am very passionate about this fight.

Initially, I began trying to fight the fight against child abuse and neglect, but recently have been pulled into the the dark hole of the Missing as well.  A local Child went missing (without a trace) in November 2012 (Dylan Redwine) and so I feel compelled to try to assist, in any small way, with that battle as it continues to rage on.

Any pointers, information or assistance you could offer would be more than greatly appreciated.

The following is my website: http://lovingactssayvlives.com/

and https://www.facebook.com/groups/LovingActs/  (Missing Persons, Loving Acts S.A.Y.V. (Save Americas Youngest Victims) Lives

Thank you so much again. Rhe Ray
