FALLing into MYSELF!

I have always been “open” to new things and ideas.  There’s no better way to appear strange as a kid then to be open. When growing up, most kids thought of fall as I time to kick leaves or jump in a mammoth leaf pile, while I observed the metaphor that leaves are beautiful in their death- that the colors are most vibrant before they fade forever.Fall is not my favorite season because it marks several things that are difficult for me.  It begins the wait of an impending doom- Winter, and the bad…See More

The Great Escape

The only time I rise before 6 AM better be for a good reason, and this was.  My alarm buzzed annoyingly at three AM and I awoke, cheerful and giddy as if I had slept twelve hours instead of a mere two.  It didn't matter though, because I was going on vacation. It was strange waking and driving through the darkness of odd hours-hours filled with quiet and inactivity. Hours of uncertainty and loneliness.  It’s even stranger to embark on a plane  without your family- three kids and a husband. But…See More

The Love that Jack Built

Jack, a sweet faced boy of three, with long, blond wisps that fell into his blue eyes, ran, then hopped into my arms in 2005.   I was the mother of three teens then.  My teens knew that I was hopelessly smitten with every baby and toddler who entered my life and ready to share the maternal gifts that they now refused, those of hugging and reading, of snuggling and giggling, of mending invisible boo boos.

My daughter Nora brought Jack into our home and our lives. …

Hi Jodi,

I'm pretty new to SheWrites too, I just asked a curious question which has had a wonderful and illuminating effect, connecting via our blogs.

I tried to connect my blog through SheWrites and didn't really succeed, but it appears as if people either post an original text in SheWrites and/or copy a post from their blog.

I guess it is up to you, we can use SheWrites to write something for this community or to share that which we blog about already.

For now, I am enjoying visiting the wonderful blogs of all the talented women who are sharing their links, and taking the advice of one of the first blogs I visited which talked about the etiquette of blogging and making sure to comment when I visit.

Ok, here's the link for the Freelance Writer's Den. Membership is $25 a month. It's a great deal because just to listen to her webcasts is $36 a session. The forum has a writer's jobs tabs, too, very selective, nothing low paid.
