Why is it our motivation sometimes wavers this time of year? Do you feel like the Little Engine That Could losing steam up a big pull? Maybe it’s the close of school and the beginning of summer. For some of us, that means a change in routine with kids home. Or maybe it’s that we’re five months into the year, and the…

Blogs, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook… My guess is you are familiar with and use at least one of these formats of social media among, perhaps, others. I also have a hunch if you are a writer you are at least somewhat savvy about the concept of building a platform. According to Christina Katz, author of…

The other day, in the midst of spring, or so the calendar indicates, our mountains received a layer of snow. I’m itching to pull my bike off its hook from the garage, lower my kayak from where it's hoisted for the winter, and slide on my hiking shoes for a walk by the lake, watching my dog lope without either of us getting chilled. But I know better. Spring is slow to emerge, if at all, at our elevation. Sometimes we skip the season altogether and just launch into summer.…

I have so many lofty goals with writing. Do it. I want to write a book, but don't know how to start. Do it. I want to be published... or start a blog... or keep a journal... or write touching letters. Do it.
I wish I could figure out how to embed a video in this post. I keep trying, but I just can't seem to make it…

What do you write?

Julie,
Thank you again. As I read through the comments, it's clear you touched the hearts of many lonely writers. Thanks for being honest and welcoming us all in.
Have a great weekend.

I looked through your blog - interesting!
I didn't supply any writing details about myself when I commented on your SW blog. I'm a journalist and a fiction writer. I live in Vancouver, BC, and write for a local newspaper. I also write fiction. My first novel is coming soon from Eternal Press. I already have the cover art and the ISBN number - Yahoo!
It seems rosy enough, but... there are always thorns. One of them is my age - I'm 56. Another - I'm divorced, have been for years, and I live alone. I try to feel young at heart, but with children living independently, and not at all interested in my writing, it does feel lonely at times.
Still, let's smile. Together.
Thanks for the request and forwarding the issue on. There is one group here that I found but there has been no significant activity since November...2010!
Thanks.
