[Making the Leap] Have You Experienced The Writer's Learning Curve?

Posted on May 28, 2013 at 5:00pm 37 Comments

In my Life Before Writing, I worked at a college learning center.  We spent many appointments working with students on studyskills. As obvious as learning sounds in a college setting, it’s amazing how many young adults successfully made their way through high school ill-equipped to learn. Unfortunately,…

[MAKING THE LEAP] 8 Goal-Setting Tips for Summer

Why is it our motivation sometimes wavers this time of year? Do you feel like the Little Engine That Could losing steam up a big pull? Maybe it’s the close of school and the beginning of summer. For some of us, that means a change in routine with kids home. Or maybe it’s that we’re five months into the year, and the…

I also have a hunch if you are a writer you are at least somewhat savvy about the concept of building a platform. According to Christina Katz, author of…

Julie.

I looked through your blog - interesting!

I didn't supply any writing details about myself when I commented on your SW blog. I'm a journalist and a fiction writer. I live in Vancouver, BC, and write for a local newspaper. I also write fiction. My first novel is coming soon from Eternal Press. I already have the cover art and the ISBN number - Yahoo!

It seems rosy enough, but... there are always thorns. One of them is my age - I'm 56. Another - I'm divorced, have been for years, and I live alone. I try to feel young at heart, but with children living independently, and not at all interested in my writing, it does feel lonely at times.

Still, let's smile. Together.
