Hi K.L.!

If this message is redundant, I apologize; the one I was working on disappeared.

First of all, it was a thank-you for your kind words. You can't imagine how nice it is (or maybe you can!) to get a message from a fellow writer -- and a good writer at that. It's honest-to-goodness comforting to know that there are others out there who take interest in fellow writers.

I said something about having deleted my recent posts on a YA blog, realizing that it's highly unlikely anyone will agree with my (strongly conservative) opinions on writing for YAs. I said I should probably wait to spout off until I've had a YA book published.

Then, to catch up, I added that (1) I'm still waiting for about 21 YA books (Newbury Winners, and not edgy, I hope) that I ordered after our last communiques, and (2) I've been asked to do a (magazine) story on a rescue operation that focuses on abused women. I'm a little nervous, as I want to come up with a fresh angle; and (3) I finished a story for 4th to 6th graders, sent it off to a literary-agent agency that, it turns out, was tried in the courts for fraud. So sue me. I'm a newbie. (Sort o' got a ring to it, don't it?)

Please tell me what you are up to. I'd still love to read anything you've done.

Andrea

Hello, my friend.

I just read the winning entries of the YA contest. The writing is great. My subject material is so tame in comparison; it's as if I'm writing for YAs, yr. 1012. I'm a millennium behind.  Where's the laudanum? (Laudanum? At least that brings me up to the 1800.)

You suggested I read a bunch of YA books that aren't edgy; I had about 15 of 'em sent to my sister in the States. She'll forward them to me here in Israel. Maybe they'll take me out of my funk.

Now that things have slowed down (I actually sold a little piece) I'm going to explore your site more thoroughly for inspiration and tips.

Glad to have you in the novelist group! You might introduce yourself by telling us what you’re working on in the “Show Me Your Novel and I’ll Show You Mine” discussion if you're not too uncomfortable talking about what you're working on. And we do a live chat every Wednesday at 1EST; instructions on how to participate are in the "Our Water Cooler Wednesdays" box near the top of the group page. Hope you can join us for that.

Hi K.L., welcome to the site!  I had to chuckle at your comment about tv shows and movies because I have two young nephews and my friend is always asking if I've watched this movie or that one and I keep reminding her: if it doesn't have Disney/Pixar in the title or isn't animated then no I haven't seen it. lol!

I look forward to hearing more about your projects! :)
