Have any of you read P.G. Wodehouse? I am devouring the Jeeves books right now (on "The Inimitable Jeeves" and just finished "Right Ho, Jeeves"), and one of the most delicious things about these books, which are like crack if you are a fan of British humor, is the names. Gussie Fink Nottle. Bingo Little. G. D'Arcy…

Back in January, I had a bad fall. I broke my collar bone so badly, in fact, that it was smashed into three pieces, and when the orthopedist looked at it, he walked out of the room, whistled to the x-ray technician and said, "Wooh, that's a nasty injury!" Surgery, right away, was the only way to fix it.…

Last night I attended a cocktail party (an event designed to raise the profile of the charity I chair, Girls Write Now, with women in publishing), and fell into conversation with one of my favorite leaders, innovators and prognosticators in the publishing…

This is Laila. I hope you still remember me. I finished my memoir. It is called "Out from the Shadows of Men". It took me a long time to finish. It was professionally edited by an ex-acquisition editor at Harper Collins in SF. It is now with an agent in New york. I would love to send the ms to read. The memoir is about women in Egypt. The story of my sister and me. I also want to let you know that I plan to be in NY for the first time ever in October, and I would love to come and meet you in person for five minutes.
As for your writing block. It happens to me a lot because I am not the type that sets time fir anything. Writing comes spontaneously to me. But a quiet place and music I love helps bring out the desire to write. Take a break fromwriting and you will miss it. Also find a writer friend you enjoy being with and invite her or him to write together in a quiet area in your home with soft music and a glass of wine. Then read to each other what you wrote. It works. Try it.
I miss you
Laila
Oh man, I didn't even read your comment until now. Looks like I missed the boat! Thanks for letting me know about this event; hopefully, I'll log in here more often so I can keep up with future happenings.
