Our eldest daughter is turning 13. Unfathomable. Time has flashed by so quickly.

That also means that my husband is about to observe his 13-year anniversary of successful cancer treatment. Thank God. Thirteen years and nary a blip on his health charts suggests he ever had anything seriously wrong with him.

At the time of his diagnosis I was four months pregnant; and dealing with both - expecting our first child and watching Thom endure his many long…

Karin, Belated welcome to She Writes. I hope you're enjoying the site! I just checked out your blog -- wonderful stuff. I am also a fan of women's history, although tackle it more through fiction.

Thanks Karin for reading.  I'm interested in The Cancer Poetry Project.  I write poetry infrequently, but have a connection to cancer through writing.  I wasn't brave enough to follow my dream of writing young adult novels until after I watched my friend battle ovarian cancer so bravely.  Every word I write is in honor of her.

Thanks so much for your comment about Beads on a String. I learned so much about so many races while researching. I'm doing my best to get the message out about it.

Hi Karin,

I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer two weeks ago and am going in for a total thyroidectomy next Wednesday. I have written a few poems about the experience and would like to share them or submit them for consideration in the Cancer Poetry book. If you could let me know how to go about this I would appreciate it. Thank you for taking on such a meaningful project.

Best,

Mary Noon

I suggest you contact a Naturopathy clinic where they treat cancer, or cancer treatment and or research center.  It would be both a place to find contributors and a place to sell your books. One marketing approach would be "Writing Therapy". Some suggestions are:

Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

American Association for Cancer Research

American Cancer Society

Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Oasis of Hope Hospital.

Best Wishes,

Margaret L. Turley
